Pros: - really nice car (Skoda Fabia), fully equipped and very clean - guys at pick up/drop off place very nice and friendly Cons: - very low value for money especially for extra insurances like flat tyres; no option to eliminate the excess, only to lower the amount and for a high price (30CHF per day to reduce it from 2000 to 750) - a strange policy of looking for visible faults of the car before driving it off; there were other people like me in the parking lot looking for any scratches or punctures and trying to take pictures of any findings; this was utterly hilarious and ridiculous in the same time as we have been transformed from tourists to some sort of insurance agents! - when questioning the guy at the front desk about the excess he bluntly said that he doesn't know the conditions offered as we didn't booked with them but with a broker; a stupid thing to say as I imagine Europcar signed a contract with the broker and they offer the conditions agreed upon with Europcar. Bottom line, this was my first experience with Europcar and I will do my best to avoid this company due to policies they have in place.

One of the best car hire experiences I’ve had. No messing about, no selling of extras, had to use a transit bus but this was simple & efficient. Deposit sorted by the time my plane landed on the way home. Excellent.

Loved the car 'Leon". We were told the car had easy pass and it did not. A bit of a struggle dealing with the toll going into France and the GPS did not know to re-route itself with detours which was very frustrating.
The guy who served us at Geneva (I think his name was Hussain) was humorous, kind and efficient. Our flight was delayed so we arrived beyond opening hours however he couldn't have been friendlier and more helpful. In the past we have had very different experiences at Geneva airport with other hire car companies but I would definitely use Alamo again based on this experience. ps drop off was also simple!

When returning the vehicle, the agent found two speck-of-dust-sized chips on the windshield. I'm almost certain these would have been there when I picked it up given I never would have seen these without the special flashlight he was using for his own inspection. Now I am being charged $3000 after having been extra careful with the car. Filing insurance using my own credit card benefits so should not be an issue - but overall a terrible experience with drop-off, leaving me feeling cheated.

Warning - this company is fraudulent. During my rental, I hit a small animal which caused small damage to a plastic part on the car. This required replacing the plastic component, something that was billed at 700 CHF. This is fine, and fully my responsibility. However, on top of this, they took the opportunity to also repair a ton of scratches at various places on the car, that had been caused prior to my rental. Even though Alamo acknowledges that the scratches were present beforehand, they still charged me for the paint job of 900 CHF. I have contacted them on multiple occasions to get this reimbursed, and their "damage team" will get back to me "in one week". It is now almost two months. I have disputed the charge with my credit card company, hopefully Alamo will now take their responsibility and behave like decent human beings in a civilized country.
They gave us a different car that we had asked for. Instead of getting a car big enough with between 4-5 doors, we were given a 3 door Fiat 500, where we almost could not fit our package...

Good pickup location. Great staff. Reservations desk personnel is always friendly, courteous and professional! Pickup/return is in lowest underground floor(-4) space is tight so can be tricky to get out and return with larger cars.
The drop off point in Vevey that was listed does not exist. As a result we missed our train and had to pay an extra $140 Swiss francs to go to our next destination.
I made the mistake of booking our car with Hertz in downtown Geneva, instead of at the airport. After finding our way to the correct office, checking in/picking up the car was a breeze. We arranged to leave the car at the airport, which worked out well. I had read some reviews about some people’s bad experiences, but there was nothing negative about our experience.

We dropped the car off within the contract period. They not only charged us an extra day, but they also sent us a photo of damage to the car that they want to charge us for. The photo was taken almost 24 hours after we dropped off the car. I have now asked them three times to provide me with their records of when the car was returned to their possession, and they are refusing to answer that question. So instead I am forced to dispute the charge through my credit card company.

Kayak displays much lower prices than the big rental companies... because the price does NOT include insurance (!!!!!) ; next time, I will rent directly from hertz. Otherwise, wonderful car , nice little sporty VW Polo - fabulous.
There was just no car available. Was supposed to pick it up at 11:0 and at 12:30 they said they had no idea when a car would be made available….. had to cancel and modify my weekend program.

Hidden costs. Charged me extra 60 euro to take to France from Switzerland. Tried to charge me 300 euros for insurance upgrade for 1 weekend. Was not the car I booked. Did not show me how to use the car. Do not use this company.

Refused to initially give me the size of vehicle I reserved. Gave me smaller vehicle than reserved and luggage wouldn't fit. Had to go back to desk to change vehicle, which required a second shuttle ride and lost hour delaying our long drive to hotel. The replacement vehicle was smaller than what was reserved, but larger than the first. Vehicle was lower quality than what was reserved. Feeling abused and cheated.

The car itself was annoying. It kept beeping about something and there is no indication anywhere on any screen or display as to why. I thought mabye it was when I approached a train crossing, but honestly I still really don’t know.

The main problem was price gouging. I paid for 3 days in mini car what I normally paid for a luxury SUV for 2 weeks. I often travel through GVA and will never use Thrifty or Hertz again, ever. I can afford the money, but cannot afford to lower myself in supporting such a greedy and inefficient company.
