The whole experience was good aside from trying to locate the drop off point in Rome. Very difficult to find. Even the employees couldn’t give correct directions to the drop off. The signs are nowhere to be found at the train station to help locate the drop off location.

I am in a legal dispute with Hertz over their over-billing practices. When I went to pick up my car at Dollar, I was sent to the Hertz desk. Hertz refused to rent me the Dollar car because I was in a dispute with Hertz. This left my family stranded. My reservation was with Dollar, not Hertz. As far as I am concerned, the Hertz company is unreliable and unethical. That is why I rented from Dollar not Hertz. Fortunately, I was able to rent a car from a European company not affiliated with Dollar or Hertz, otherwise my trip would have been a complete disaster.

Pickup in Florence was excellent, I had a very helpful service person who helped me decide which car to take. Ended up with a brand new car with only 8 km on it (we then put a problem free 1400 km on it over the next 10 days). Dropping off the car in Munich was confusing, there was no instructions about where to park or that I was to use a key drop box. I just saw an Avis sign on a parking garage so I left it in that garage and stumbled across a non-descript drop box while wondering around for a service counter. Searched my email and re-read the rental contracts to see if that was what I was supposed to do or not, but found no additional information.

Horrible company, took 3 hours to get a car. Not the car I paid for. Horrible experience
The car was empty of gas upon pickup. There were various warning lights on in the vehicle upon pickup, including: check engine, low tire pressure, seat belt (although we were wearing), and air bag. The "customer service" agent was a complete hothead.
Hertz changed car rental pick-up location but only notified locally via flyer taped to the wall
