The wait time to pick up a car we had reserved for 2pm was 3 hours and 15 minutes. What a way to spend your first day on vacation. Need proof??? I’ll send photos of What it was like. We couldn’t cancel because it was outside the cancellation window.

I waited 2.5 hours to get a car. Then after driving a mile away, the car died. It took an additional 1.5 hours to get a new vehicle, because they assigned me one that was also assigned to another group. Ultimately, they tried to make it right, but they seem severely short staffed. And from speaking to other customers who had the same experience, it didn’t appear like my situation was unique.

Adelene was amazing! Easy, friendly, overall great experience. Our drivers to and from the airport were super friendly and very helpful as well! One of the best rental experiences we've had!
Vehicle was okay, but had the highest mileage of any car I’ve rented in my life (60,000)! Pickup at Kona takes about a half hour. That’s no fun after a long flight. Drop off was okay.

Some of the staff in Kona were not very interested in helping customers. We waited about 30 minutes in line when there was only one party ahead of us.
It was good. The vehicle was a little banged up when we got it and it wasn’t mentioned. We took pictures just for evidence. Other than that it was great.

Hertz was outstanding in service, quality of vehicle and friendly and helpful staff. The only negative was the cost. Advertised price was more than $721. Final price was $1,700 with fees and insurance add-on’s.

We picked up our vehicle rental at the downtown location in Kona and the overall experience was great. We were assisted by Melvin who was very friendly as well as informative during the completion of the paperwork process. He also gave us a list of his recommendations for beaches, restaurants, tours and sights to see in the Kona area which we found very helpful.

They added a $250 charge during the return. This charge was not for mileage, damage, fines, tolls, or fuel without telling me about it or explaining why. I call that being sleazy and dishonest business practices. Terrible business practices

Wait for more than two hours to pick up the car ，inside the car has lots roaches ，while driving the roach climb out on the inside of the window ，the left over pizza in box leave in back seat of the car for coup of hour ，there already have three roaches inside the box eating the pizza ，never used this company again．

Cons: - We learned the hard way that Thrifty does not provide a shuttle to the pickup location we used, so this added ~$80 of taxi fares, a few hours of time, and a lot of stress to get to our vehicle and back to the airport. Given that they advertise having an airport shuttle, this feels unethical and should absolutely be disclosed. - The vehicle had a partial tank of gas and we would have been charged for the difference if we hadn't noticed this and brought it to the agents attention Pros: - The actual humans we interacted with were friendly and helpful and did their best to make a great experience for us.

I prescribed a pickup at Kona airport What I got was a downtown rental That was closed when I got to the airport office at 10:30 Airport Office manager refused to do the rental from there because "we have no cars" & suggested i) I try to find a cab at the airport to take me 25 mi north (est cost $80US), & ii) that in the morning I take a tax i (est cost, >$120 US) to downtown to see if the rental was still there. Absolutely brutal customer relations. She didn't care whether my wife & i lived or died. I was completely disgusted. Never been treated so badly by anyone, ever. Eventually the counter guy found me an old Dodge van for a day (cost $160 + tax etc) so at least I could take my wife to our destination. The van was filthy. I mean, filthy. And if my wife wanted to drive, sorry that will be $13/day Took the filthy van back next morning & went across the St. to Budget & got a car. Budget didn't say "we have no cars". Budget said: "if your wife wants to drive, go ahead. No charge." I will never ever under any circumstance sign up to rent a car from Thrifty. In fact, I will not use your service ever again because you completely mislead me by getting my rental from a place 20 miles from where I was. AWFUL.

Great service, new cars, even upgraded us for free when our car wasn’t quite ready on time so we could get on our way more quickly. Would definitely use them again.
I love the staff, but we had no idea that our car would need to be picked up in the downtown area. When you are unfamiliar with a city it would have been helpful to be advised it wasn’t in the airport pick. They did not provide any shuttle service to this location and outside of their control the taxi service would not pick us up at the location at the time we needed pickup. Luckily Uber was close, but this was a terrible disservice to the customer. The car was nice but not what we asked for either. We ended up spending double on gas than we originally thought we would. Not the greatest experience we have had.

We waited 90 minutes for a car. 90 minutes. The type we reserved wasn’t available so we were given a gas guzzler. We drove back to the airport the next day and got a different car - a beat-up Elantra with 47,000 miles on it. We were told it was “ready to go.” It was a blatant lie - it was filthy and spent the next hour cleaning the windows and vacuuming. Really lousy experience.
