Some of the staff in Kona were not very interested in helping customers. We waited about 30 minutes in line when there was only one party ahead of us.
It was good. The vehicle was a little banged up when we got it and it wasn’t mentioned. We took pictures just for evidence. Other than that it was great.

Hertz was outstanding in service, quality of vehicle and friendly and helpful staff. The only negative was the cost. Advertised price was more than $721. Final price was $1,700 with fees and insurance add-on’s.

We picked up our vehicle rental at the downtown location in Kona and the overall experience was great. We were assisted by Melvin who was very friendly as well as informative during the completion of the paperwork process. He also gave us a list of his recommendations for beaches, restaurants, tours and sights to see in the Kona area which we found very helpful.

They added a $250 charge during the return. This charge was not for mileage, damage, fines, tolls, or fuel without telling me about it or explaining why. I call that being sleazy and dishonest business practices. Terrible business practices

The wait time to pick up a car we had reserved for 2pm was 3 hours and 15 minutes. What a way to spend your first day on vacation. Need proof??? I’ll send photos of What it was like. We couldn’t cancel because it was outside the cancellation window.

I waited 2.5 hours to get a car. Then after driving a mile away, the car died. It took an additional 1.5 hours to get a new vehicle, because they assigned me one that was also assigned to another group. Ultimately, they tried to make it right, but they seem severely short staffed. And from speaking to other customers who had the same experience, it didn’t appear like my situation was unique.

Easy check-in and drop off. When they didn't have a car in my size ready, they quickly resolved the problem. Other than the higher-than-normal car rental prices being charged across the industry right now, it was a great experience.
Pickup up of the vehicle and drop off was very easy and hassle free. Spend very little time with the process.

Very good service…fast and friendly. Vehicle seemed almost ready to be laid out to pasture and was not sparkling clean
I love the staff, but we had no idea that our car would need to be picked up in the downtown area. When you are unfamiliar with a city it would have been helpful to be advised it wasn’t in the airport pick. They did not provide any shuttle service to this location and outside of their control the taxi service would not pick us up at the location at the time we needed pickup. Luckily Uber was close, but this was a terrible disservice to the customer. The car was nice but not what we asked for either. We ended up spending double on gas than we originally thought we would. Not the greatest experience we have had.

We waited 90 minutes for a car. 90 minutes. The type we reserved wasn’t available so we were given a gas guzzler. We drove back to the airport the next day and got a different car - a beat-up Elantra with 47,000 miles on it. We were told it was “ready to go.” It was a blatant lie - it was filthy and spent the next hour cleaning the windows and vacuuming. Really lousy experience.

Great service, new cars, even upgraded us for free when our car wasn’t quite ready on time so we could get on our way more quickly. Would definitely use them again.
I was never told that the shuttle for Payless was a budget shuttle from the airport so I ended up walking the mile with my suitcases on the road to Payless. Nowhere does it say in an email or anything. When my car was driven up for me no one told me it was my car. I just sat there waiting. I finally went in and asked so I guess they don’t look over the car or even say this car is for you. Seems like poor customer service. The guy who helped me inside was nice. It was a poor experience to start. Otherwise it was fine and drop off was smooth.

Our rental experience couldn't have been any easier or better. The shuttle driver (from baggage claim to the rental office) was outgoing and friendly. When we arrived at the rental office, the line was short, our rental agent was also friendly and very helpful, and we were offered a better car than we had reserved for no extra charge. Returning the car was just as easy.

Very poor experience. First, there was a very long line with a 45 minute wait. Friendly staff, but car I ordered was not available. OK, the alternative was a minivan or convertible. I chose the convertible but it was dirty inside (literally with a footprint on the seats). Some time later they replaced it with an Impala. It was the most beat up rental I have ever seen with 45k miles. It was also dirty inside. At this point I could live with that, but on the highway it made a loud noise at highways speeds indicating a serious mechanical issue. I had to return it and was given a new Kia sedan which finally was OK, but after 2 hours of aggravation.
